Niagarka Organization began its journey as Niagara Support Ukraine, founded on March 27, 2022, during one of the most challenging times for the Ukrainian people.
What started as a volunteer initiative to collect humanitarian aid, support displaced families, and help newcomers settle in the Niagara region quickly grew into a strong, caring, and creative community movement
Our first public presentation took place on May 29, 2022, when we were invited by Orest Halushka to participate in the creation of the Ukrainian Community Town Hall and Networking Opportunity in Etobicoke. It was our first chance to share the story of Niagara Support Ukraine, talk about our purpose and goals, and highlight the real challenges newcomers faced in Niagara — from transportation to housing and employment. Even then, we believed that with unity and kindness, everything would work out.
Before our official founding, on December 9, 2021, we launched the Niagarka YouTube Channel.
Informational Ukrainian platform that continues to help newcomers adapt in Canada — explaining how to fill out forms, apply for visas, get essential documents, and find their way in a new country.
Hope for people from Ukraine
In the early days of our organization, Niagarka volunteers focused not only on collecting humanitarian aid but also on providing clear, practical information to help displaced families navigate life in Canada.
One of our most viewed resources was an instructional video on how to apply for the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) program — guiding adults and children step-by-step through the visa registration process.
This video became an essential tool for newcomers, helping hundreds of Ukrainian families safely reach Canada and start a new life in the Niagara region.

As Ukrainians began arriving in Niagara under the CUAET program, our volunteers organized charity events and workshops to support them — helping families with their first steps in Canada, including obtaining SIN numbers, health cards, bank accounts, driver’s licenses, and finding housing and jobs
Ukrainian Independence Day (2022 Niagara Region)
Since August 2022, every year we organize the celebration of Ukrainian Independence Day in Niagara — an event that unites our local community with music, art, culture, and national pride.
Niagara Ukrainian Family Festival 2023
In 2023, we organized the first annual Niagara Ukrainian Family Festival, which has now become one of the most anticipated Ukrainian cultural events in the region — celebrating family, culture, and community spirit.
Art class and Ukrainian theater
Continuing to grow, we opened Art Classes in November 2024, giving children and adults a space to express their creativity, connect through art, and preserve cultural traditions. In May 2024, we proudly launched our Ukrainian theatre “Vechory na Khutori”, bringing humor, heritage, and heartwarming stories to life on stage.
On March 12, 2024, our organization officially changed its name to Niagarka Organization, marking a new chapter dedicated to creativity, culture, and community unity.
Today, Niagarka continues to unite people through compassion, art, and culture — preserving Ukrainian traditions while building a strong, inclusive, and vibrant Niagara community
