On Sunday, August 25, 2024, a traditional Ukrainian Independence Day Picnic took place on the grounds of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Niagara Falls. The event was organized by the charitable organization Niagarka Organization together with St. Mary’s Ukrainian Church.
More than 100 guests attended the picnic, and we are sincerely grateful to everyone for the wonderful mood, warm atmosphere, and sunny smiles.
It was especially heartwarming to see happy and playful children, youth, and adults from different generations and waves of immigration, as well as our Canadian friends. We were also honored to welcome Mona Patel from the City of Niagara Falls, Canada.
The picnic began with opening remarks and the national anthem. Victor Nazartchyk offered a prayer for Ukraine and blessed the food and the picnic.
Everyone enjoyed the beautiful summer weather, delicious BBQ, Ukrainian music, team relay games for both adults and children, and friendly conversations in a warm, welcoming circle.
